Damian Lynn at “Lucerne in ice”

When Damian Lynn at the beginning of January in the middle of Luzern is singing about cold winter days, then the one or other shiver down the back is guaranteed. Not just now, because one is freezing – after all 5°C at this time of the year is rather warm – but because it’s simply beautiful and goosebump moments follow one after the other.

My first concert visit of the year was really incredibly beautiful.

Traditionally seen my first concert of the year would be Touch The Mountains in Interlaken, but I didn’t know at all what to make of this years programme. Well, one could have gone quickly to listen to Baschi, but I didn’t then. Yes, there you can see my priorities: Damian Lynn announces this afternoon a half an hour concert in Luzern at short notice – and I am already sitting in the bus to the train station.

It was raining, but never mind. After so many days at home in front of the TV fresh air and a short trip were definitively good. Connected to a concert of Damian, even it was short, it’s perfect. The concert was part of the opening event for “Lucerne in ice”, what for Luzern Hotels presents together with Luzern Toursim daily changing attractions around the ice skating rink at KKL. Yes, up to today I hadn’t heard about it either.

It was a short 30 mins concert what for Damian had his loop station and drummer Marcel with him as support. First it looked like there were only a handfull of people there, but quickly some more came along. They started with “Between the line”, whereon various songs from his album “Count To Ten” followed – like “Tell Me”, “Show My Love To You” or the actual single “Go!”. Except of them also the Otis Redding Cover “Sittin’ on the dock of the bAY” were on the setlist. The stage of the pavillon was flooded in beautiful warm light during the concert. And with everything around it was a wonderful atmosphere. The whole thing mall but beautiful. One can start the year a bit more quite. Who knows what will follow…

As soon as the last song had finished, people ran off immediately – so there was no encore at all. But after Damian will beback from the Stefanie Heinzmann tour in Germany, he’ll play concerts again in Switezralnd.  Make sure to check him out. It’s worth it!
