Drew Cole at Bistrot chez Marion Zurich

Let’s make a tradition out of this Wednesday night! In any case, Drew Cole promised that he would come over every year after this great Wednesday evening. And the chances are definitely good. After all, the US musician is at Bistrot Chez Marion for the second time in the middle of Zurich’s old town that evening.

Born in Seattle, Drew played in a rock band during high school in Conneticute. He had learned to play guitar from his father at the age of 11. However, Drew decided not to study at Berklee College of Music to go for an economic degree instead.  When his video with golden retriever Bailey became a viral hit in 2011, he moved to LA for music. In 2018, Drew participated in the 14th US-season of The Voice. With the Marcy Playground cover “Sex and Candy” he was able to convince coach Marron5 frontman Adam Levine and made it into the knockouts.

I first heard of Drew Cole through Zibbz Onetake for “Waiting on the world to change” (check it out here ). Later he was in the video for “Sirens” (watch the video here). This Wednesday evening in Zurich, a part of the present audience sat comfortably at the bistro tables of Chez Marion with a delicious dinner. The other ones had a few drinks at the bar. Drew thrilled in two sets with his own songs such as “Monterey”, “Kings And Queens” or “Magical” – an EP is due to be released in March – but also with covers. Supported by special guests siblings Zibbz, Coco & Stee, and Sevi on bass, he grooved to “Ain’t No Sunshine” or rocked to Gavin DeGraw’s “I don’t want to be”. With his warm, soulful voice he let hearts melt easily. Plus, in between there was also Zibbz “Children Of The Sun”. Co’s incredible voice was another highlight.

Finally, Drew asked “Don’t let me down” Switzerland. We’d love to be there again next time!
