Tobey Lucas in Burgdorf

Ok, I had just seen Tobey Lucas the day before together with Anna Känzig in Lenk as a support act of  77 Bombay Street. But this had been a surprise and the evening in Burgdorf was planned for longer already, so I still went again. You can easilylisten to Tobey several times in a row and I like going to several concerts, you may have noticed 😉 He played in Burgdorf on that evening, at Kulturclub at masion Pierre. Originally they should have been a trio, but the bass player was sick. So Tobey travelled there alone with jetlagged Chris, who accompaigned him by guitare and drums.

On this evening I really went through Burgdorf thinking where the hell was this location. And suddendly I was standing in front of it ^^ I didn’t know the Kulturclub in Burgdorf so far. Not even my friend, who originally comes from Burgdorf, knew about it. Well, I have no idea how long the club exists. However, it used to be cheese diary or something like that. Now it’s a concert location with bar, where obviously often play good bands (Death By Chocolate were there only in November). It’s of course not big. But if you’d take the tables and charis away, that were put up this evening, there would be a lot of space. But so a nice, elderly couple sat down next to me and we talked about music of now and then, about the Scotcs and Irish as well as their pubs, and how much more laid pack and open they are compared to the Swiss 😉 The instruments were ready. The Wolverin figurin, that was standing on stage, did strike right away. 😉

Tobey started the concert on his own, accompaigned only by a guitare. It was a quite concert, that was in 2 sets. You can imagine my eye rolling 😉 A break. In the middle of the concert… (ok, execpt I urgently need to go to the toilet, then I’m greatful for one ;). But as experienced it’s mostly not even the decision of the musician but of the organiser (selling strategy, you know). Tobey got a super nice voice and got supported by Chris with backings. Inbetween the songs the audience got entertained with some jokes and stories. Tobey told, that he was enjoying this concert more than the one the day before at das Zelt. But well, of course most people were there for 77 Bombay Street and not that much interested in his country music. At Kulturclub everyone was generally quite as church mice, well, except of 2-3 persons in the corner at the bar. They didn’t get how much they were disturbing.

My table neighbour did then totally rave about Tobey’s voice and I can only recommend to you to go and listen to him – no matter if solo, in duet, as a trio or fullband. It’s worth it. Tourdates you can find on his website.
