Live at Joiz: Nicole Bernegger

Oops, I almost forgot to tell about. I was at Joiz again, where “The Voice of Switzerland” Nicole Bernegger performed at “Live at Joiz”. One of the best female singer in Switzerland, if oyu ask me. The Basel woman got such an incredible and very special voice and her very own style. Unfortunately I haven’t managed to see her live often so far. So I was even more looking forward to the showcase at Joiz.

In this late Wednesday afternoon as usual there wasn’t a too big audience at the studio, but the atmosphere was still good. Nicole, who was there with a 5 member band, was very tattered on that day because of her pollen allergy. At the beginning it was still ok. At first she showed everyone the choreography of “Don’t Stay Away”, what followed later. She started with “Before The Clock”, what was followed by “Shadows”. You could already hear that she had trouble with her voice and she even mentioned it. So, additionally she let the audience sing along, but still gave everything and tried to get out of her voice, what she could. She kept cheering the audience, encouraged them to go along. Though with every song her voice got weaker, until she unfortunately had to give up after seven songs. Actually she thought she could do “Don’t Stay Away”, but she barley got any word out of herself.  We did the “Don’t STay Away” dance then and her background singer took partly over, before the showcase ended early.

Setlist:
1. Before The Clock
2. Shadows
3. The Boss
4. The Fool
6. Flowers
7. Rlease Me
8. Don’t Stay Away

Yes, whith something like that you can hardly keep up with. Of course she wasn’t alright with it, but none was miffed about it. She really tried her best to play some songs for her fans even with her allergy. She wrote autographs and took photos after the sowcase then, and it was still very cool to have heard a few songs by her.
