Saturday evening, Dachstock Bern. Everyone came together to see Undiscovered Soul at their first big headline show. And esp. if you are already following for a while and have seen some concerts by the Thun band, this evening knocked you off the socks.
We just came from the Waldbühne Live Contest and Me, Valentin & You played their last 2-3 songs. We were listening to them sidewards next to the stage. Me, Valentin & You are a Bernese band, which was founded back in 2012. Its members are Valentin Kugler (voc/git, Raphael Nussbaum (git), Martina Berther (bass) and Hannes Prisi (drums). Leadsinger Valentin met the other bandmembers as street musician. They played without any release at Gurtenfestival in 2013 and finally released their debut album “If” in March 2014. The first thoughs were like ‘I like them more than expected, they sound really good!’ and ‘Cool, they got a woman as bass player!’. Super start of an unforgetable evening!
Concentrated the Thun band finally got ready for their performance. About 850 (!!) specactors came only to see Undiscovered Soul and to celebrated with them their new EP “Green”, last part of their EP trilogy. You could feel the tension – everyone was excited, looking forward to see the show and super curious. A word to describe the concert? Rockstarshow! It was an incredible concert! The probably best one of Undiscovered Soul so far. The band is on a whole new level.
The whole thing started with an intro and went over to the first song of EP “Green” – “U & I”. A setlist mix of the three EPs and the album “Dresscode Love” as well as a Beatles cover, which they played accoustic in the middle of the audience. Added were brand new titles as the super beautiful and touching “My heart” [Video hier] or the catchy “Live” [Video hier]. Both hopefully will be on the new album. It was one of the rare shows in this spring, which Undiscovered Soul played before flying over to the USA to attend Musexpo and to record their album. Therefor they successfully finished their “We Make It”-Project, which they of course advertised on this evening as well.
During some songs as “Mr Nowhere” [Video hier] or “Hunt For Love” [Video hier] they got joined by a violin player. Intensiv and electrifying, energetic and hypnotizing, so powerful and passionate, absolutely harmonic and touching… everything was there and the Souls rocked the Dachstock. During “Tandem” or “Run Baby Run” [Video hier] probably everyone sang along. Constant goosebumps. Like proper rockstars they were standing on the platforms, surrounded by light and fog. And like at a proper rockshow, a bra came flying from the audience as well 😉 A concert with great light show, super mixed sound. Absolutely fabulous!

After the concert the duo Trashlimo DJs kept entertaining the audience during the aftershow party, which didn’t finish until the early morning hours. They created a good atmosphere at the location with loads of rock/indie rock. But even after the party didn’t end for long. After the lights were on and the Dachstock crew started tidying up, not everyone let themselves throw out just like that. Michi got a guitare, and he and bandmate Domi sang with the ones who stayed, among others, some songs by Patent Ochsner and die Toten Hosen – yes, til definitively everyone got thrown out.
An absolutely successful concert evening and EP release. It totally asks for more! 🙂
